Bomber Arena
Drop bombs, blow up the walls, and catch your opponents in the blast. Don't get caught in your own. Last bot standing wins.
Rules
- The board is a grid of indestructible pillars and destructible blocks, with open lanes between. Every turn all bots act at once: move one cell, drop a bomb, or wait.
- A bomb sits for a few turns, then explodes in a cross. The blast reaches a couple of cells each way, stopped by a pillar, and clears the first destructible block it hits. Any bot in the blast dies.
- Any bomb inside a blast goes off too, in the same turn.
- You can carry one bomb at a time. Outlast everyone to win.
Writing a bot
You see the whole board: the walls, every bot, and every live bomb with its fuse. Return a move, a bomb, or a wait.
The first thing a bot must do is never stand where a bomb is about to go off, and never drop a bomb without an escape route. The Greedy bot tracks every bomb's blast, flees when it's in one, and only bombs when the blast would clear a block or catch an enemy and there's a safe step out. Past that: trap opponents in dead-end lanes, chain bombs to reach around pillars, and path to safety more than one step ahead.
Input and output
Each turn your bot is handed the observation as JSON and returns one action as JSON.
Observation: { "you", "width", "height", "walls", "bots", "bombs", "turn", "nonce" }. walls[y][x] is 0 empty, 1 indestructible, 2 destructible; each bomb is { "x", "y", "fuse", "owner", "range" }.
Action: { "kind": "move", "dir": "up|down|left|right" }, { "kind": "bomb" }, or { "kind": "wait" }.
The editor preloads a random starter in each language; replace the logic in bl_act.
